Finnegan’s Surgery – The Paulk Pack

Finnegan’s Surgery

In the past eleven months, we have had a total of three TPLO (tibial plateau leveling osteotomy) surgeries between Auggie and Finn. Pitties are prone to tearing their cruciate ligaments and this is one of the surgeries available to help with the condition.

Auggie tore his five weeks apart last summer and Finnegan has now joined the club as well. We headed back to our favorite specialists, Northlake Veterinary Surgury for his surgery. Being the paranoid Mom that I am, I decided to pack up my office and work all day at a Starbucks around the corner from the vet office.

I dropped off Finn about 9 AM this morning and went to Starbucks to set up my office for the day. Did you know that with the Starbucks “Gold Card” you get free refills on coffee? By the time I left there, I had my price per cup down to about $0.50…

Anyways, my Dad met me for lunch as he was in the area for a presite. After he left, I got a call from Dr. Corse, the veterinarian that performed the surgery. He let me know that just after my boy was anesthetized, his heart nearly stopped. Luckily the doctors got it going again and were able to complete the surgery with no further complications. I picked him up a few hours later and brought him home to rest and heal. My sweet boy was looking a little more than pathetic…wish there was more I could do to comfort him.
