We have had quite a bit of rain the past few days. After a broken pipe at the kennel last month, I have been quite wary of another pipe busting. If you know the back story of the kennel, the reason the entire building had to be ripped out and renovated was the fast that a pipe broke in the ceiling while the property was vacant. Water ran for who knows how long, then the property was foreclosed upon and sealed up. You do the math… Standing water + humid Georgia weater = MAJOR MOLD! So, once the mold remediation had occurred, we had THIS happened…another broken pipe! So, when there is a possibility of another pipe breaking, you can probably understand my panic.
Anyways, Kristin called to let me know it looked like there was water leaking from the ceiling in the breakroom at the kennel. After investigating, we found that there was an old vent pipe leading out of the roof that had not been sealed. The options were either to remove the pipe (and patch the roof) or seal and cut the pipe shorter so it wasn’t resting on the drywall. We ended up sealing the pipe and it seems our problems are solved. Now, we just need to repair the damage to the drywall. Just add that to my to-do list.
