Yep, you read that right. Our little man Elvis got his back leg stuck in a hay net one day and got it wound so tightly around his leg that Charles had to cut it down with a knife as soon as he found him. We don’t know how long the poor guy had been caught, but he was in some serious pain.
We gave him some pain meds and had the vet out several times to figure out what to do. He wasn’t using his leg for several weeks and we kept him on stall rest. He HATED the fact that his sister got to go out and graze during the day and paced back and forth in his stall wearing down a nice path. The vet suggested we walk him up and down the driveway where he would be more inclined to use his leg on the concrete. After several months, he is almost back to 100%.
