When we moved into our home in December 2010. Before we could move in, we had to have our basement completely demoed and spent a lot of our budget on mold remediation. Our home had been in foreclosure for about eighteen months and needed some serious TLC.
Projects got added to the list in order of necessity. Our basement had been torn out down to the studs and left. Three years later and we finally decided it was time to finish that project. Our basement is just one room extending to a porch and the pool area. We wanted to go with a functional look that would be easy to keep clean. I can imagine in several years, there will be lots of little feet running in and out of the basement from the pool!
