We’ve been letting our chickens free range for the past month and they really seem to enjoy it. They lay more eggs, eat more bugs and the coop stays cleaner. It seemed like a win-win for all of us. Today, however, that changed. Kristin was outside with Owen when she spotted a fox down at the barn. We aren’t sure how long he had been killing chickens that day, but by the time we got down there, we had lost over 20 chickens. It was awful! Some of our favorites were gone completely, while others were just strewn across the pasture. I can’t imagine how scared they must have been! I felt awful! Hopefully killing the fox will be in the near future. I’m not OK with him living anywhere nearby!
