Weekend Adventures On The Farms – The Paulk Pack

Weekend Adventures On The Farms

Spring has sprung and of course, that means, the grass (and everything else) is growing. The past couple of years have presented some new challenges with having little babies and an ever-growing to-do list around the farm. Thankfully, the Pop-Pop and Gigi came to the rescue this Sunday and watched the kiddos all day while we tackled some items on our list.

Saturday we started out with a trip to the Art Barn for Hagan’s 5th birthday. It was SUPER fun! The kiddos got to meet animals and ride the tractor, as well as chow down on some yummy donuts while they painted pictures. It was such a unique birthday party. It’s too bad our animals are not as bomb-proof as all of those at the Art Barn. If we had that kind of party here, I would hand out helmets to all the kids to put on prior to visiting. LOL

In a spur of the moment decision, Charles took Owen to Dixie Speedway to meet up with some friends on Saturday night. It was a guys night out and they had a blast. Several days later and Owen is still telling me “The green car got a boo boo.”

Sunday was Delilah’s last day here. We’ve had some challenging incidents over the past few months where she has used her size to assert her dominance when we’ve been out in the pasture with her. Last week, I turned my back (and I KNOW better) and she rammed into me while I was trying to round up the horses for the farrier. It was really scary and with my fibromyalgia, the pain lasted for over a week. That was kind of the last straw. I know she really didn’t mean and harm and she has no companions here that will interact with her, so she acts out of boredom. I contacted Kelly, her former owner, and they now have other cows and more land, so they were happy to have her back. We delivered her on Sunday and she ran right out to greet her new cow friends. It was a little sad, but also a relief for me.

After Delilah’s delivery, we headed home and Charles worked on fixing fences and all the areas Delilah has “reconstructed.” I headed down to the kennel to help with all the Spring Breakers that were checking out that day. It was a long day and everyone slept well Sunday night. Now, on to the next project!
