Well, this was supposed to be a “catch up on life weekend” where I actually, in my mind, had scheduled a day of doing nothing. My type A personality will not allow me to just “do nothing” unless I have scheduled it like that. There’s nothing I can do about that so it is what it is.
Saturday we joined some friends at a cabin in Cleveland, GA. We took the kiddos, walked around the farm and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. Later in the afternoon, I started feeling “off.” On the way home (it was about an hour drive) I really started feeling sick. By the time we got home, I had a 102* fever, chills and cold sweats. Of course, all the urgent care facilities we already closed and the nearest 24 hour pharmacy was quite a drive. All signs pointed to mastitis and luckily, my doctor called in an antibiotic.
Owen had fallen asleep on the ride home and we transferred him into his bed fairly easily. Charlotte was being very “cooperative” as well and let me lay on the floor, slowly dying, next to her, while Charles drove to the other end of the earth to get my medication. I honestly have never had a fever this high in my life and I couldn’t believe how fast it came on. It was worse than when I had the flu a few months ago. I was so thankful that I had leftover pain medication from the hospital that I took with my antibiotics. That was really the only thing that made me feel somewhat “ok” those first 24 hours until the antibiotics really kicked in. So, our day of “do nothing” basically turned into a day of Charlotte and I laying in the bed while Charles chased Owen around on Sunday. I guess it was good that it happened over a weekend so that my sweet husband was there to help me. I don’t know what I would do without him!!
Hopefully we will get to make another attempt at going to the cabin in the near future when I can enjoy our time there more. Here are a few of the pictures from that day.
