It’s been WAY too long since I’ve posted. I guess you go scroll back a few posts and see why (or, just click here). It’s been a whirlwind of a summer. We have not accumulated anymore animals since my last post, but I did order a batch of baby chicks to arrive the week of September 19th!
Anyways, since last posting, we have been working hard at keeping up with the yard, animals and kids. It’s been a fun summer but honestly, I hate the heat. Give me winter and a nice fireplace any day over this misery!
Currently we are prepping for our biggest event to-date at the farm-PPCA’s 10 year anniversary party on October 1st. Y’all, I’m seriously SO excited about this event! We are going to be raising funds for two of our favorite rescue groups-Bullseye Rescue and Planned PEThood of GA. We are going to have activities, vendors, food and fun!
The yard projects have included new gutters on the warehouse (to help ease the erosion problems that are not yet eliminated over there), trimming some large limbs and trees that came down during a storm, wrapping up our summer garden, running irrigation from the pond to our garden, and a complete barn makeover (that will be another post because it’s super duper exciting!!). We canned tomatoes and made salsa, we ripped up all the landscaping surrounding our house, Owen started soccer and Charlotte decided to get 4 molars all at the same time. Gee, it’s been a whirlwind of fun around here! HA!
Y’all, I’m ready for summer to be OVERRRRRRR! I need the grass to stop growing and the sweat to stop sweating. We’ve lost two chickens due to the heat. None of the animals enjoy being in the sun…except Finnegan because he only has half of a brain. Enjoy our summer in photos.
